Obituary of Joann Dombal

Joann Dombal of Slate Hill, NY, a lifelong resident of the area, entered into rest on Thursday, April 23, 2026. She was 88.

The daughter of the late Alonzo Cole and Lois Suffern Cole, she was born on December 5, 1937 in Middletown, NY.

She was a faithful member of Holy Cross Church, South Centerville. She was a registered nurse at Horton Hospital, Middletown. Mom was often found outside of work at home with a labrador retriever by her side.

She is survived by her son, Mark Dombal; son Kent Dombal and wife Susan; daughter, Karen Sutton; son, Paul Dombal and wife Ania; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; her sister, Roberta Tripp and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Bennie J. Dombal Jr.; son, Jeffrey Craig Dombal; and her brother, Richard Cole.

As per her wishes, there will be no public visitation.

A funeral memorial mass will be held 10AM Friday, May 1, 2026 at Holy Cross Church, 626 County Road 22, Middletown, NY.

Cremation burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Pine Island, NY.
