Obituary of Henry Jankowski

Henry "Hank" Jankowski Sr. of New Hampton, NY, a retired laborer for Local 17, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 06, 2017. He was 97. The son of the late John Jankowski & Frances Erfort Jankowski, he was born November 21, 1919 in Bronx, NY. He was a member of the Lost Mountain Hunting Club; former member of the Benevolent Protection Order of the Elks # 1097, Middletown, NY. Henry married Pauline Sosler on January 7, 1945 in St. Joseph Church, Florida, NY. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather who with his wife ran a small greenhouse and sold vegetables and flower plants. After retirement, he enjoyed helping his nephew Steven Bogdanski on his farm in Pine Island. He is survived by 3 sons, Henry Jankowski Jr. & companion Bonnie Osterdahl of Fair Oaks, NY; William Jankowski & wife Elizabeth of Long Beach Island, NJ, formerly of Middletown; Michael Jankowski Sr. & wife Tammy of Otisville, NY; 6 grandchildren; Joellen Hundeland & husband Kenneth, Andrew Jankowski & wife Denise, Jason Jankowski & wife Maureen, Corinne Jankowski, Michael Jankowski Jr. & Kaitlyn Jankowski; & 2 great grandchildren, Savanna Jankowski & Juliette Jankowski; Sisters-in-law, Theresa Jankowski of New Hampton & Lena Black of Little Rock, AR; along with numerous nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Pauline Sosler Jankowski; and daughter-in-law, Janet Jankowski; 3 brothers, Steve Szymanski, Alfred Jankowski & Edward Jankowski; 4 sisters, Stella Helhoski, Helen Rzeczkowski, Sophie Zielenski & Florence Bogdanski. Visitation will be held Monday, September 11th from 6-8pm at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY 10921. Funeral mass will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 12th at St. Joseph Church, Florida, NY. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY.
