Obituary of Catherine Mary Kurnath

Catherine Mary Hickey Kurnath of Warwick, NY entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 21, 2023.  She was 70 years old.  Catherine was the daughter of James Hickey and Marie Corrigan Hickey and was born on August 28, 1952. 

Cathy was survived by her husband of 40 years Larry Kurnath; son, Daniel Kurnath; daughter, Caitlin Kurnath; brother, Michael Hickey and his wife Jackie and nephew Conor Hickey; brother, James Hickey and his partner Robin Smith, and many cousins including Patricia Hickey Small and Mary Hickey Hencinsky who grew up with Cathy in the same house; along with many, many cousins on her husband Larry's side of the family.

Cathy's youngest brother John Hickey pre-deceased her.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:30am on February 4^th, the Pine Island Fire House, 675 County Route# 1, Pine Island NY 10969, starting at 11:30am.  A repast will follow the services at the Firehouse.

Cathy loved to read, was a skilled artist, loved the beach and loved life on “her hill” in Amity / Warwick, NY.  Cathy was a great loving mother to her children and all of their friends.  She was always kind and helpful to everyone.  Cathy will be greatly missed by her husband, children, and family.  Her friends will always remember “Hickey” and her great sense of humor.
