Obituary of John Peter Augusta

John Peter Augusta of Hawley, PA, formerly of Chester, NY, entered into rest on Friday, April 14, 2023.  He was 77.

The son of the late James Augusta and Josephine Guttilla Augusta, he was born on February 5, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Irene Zimmerman Augusta; 4 children, Lisa Melody (Christopher), John Augusta (Lauren), Kelly Fleming (Thomas), and Anthony Augusta (Krystle); 12 grandchildren, Nicole, Allison, Valerie and Joseph Melody; Callahan, Ashlyn and Brody Augusta; Camryn, Erin and Shannon Fleming; Anthony and Dominic Augusta; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Cindy Augusta.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 3-7 PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921.

A funeral mass will be held 10:30AM Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at St. Joseph Church, 20 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921.

A private cremation will be held after the funeral mass and a burial of cremains will be held in St. Columba Cemetery, Chester, NY in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
