Obituary of Edward V. Putkowski

Edward V. Putkowski of Florida, NY, entered into rest on Thursday October 15, 2015. He was 90. The son of the late Joseph and Mary Andryshak Putkowski, he was born in October 17, 1924 in Warwick, NY. Edward was a retired production manager for Mechanical Rubber in Warwick. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran having participated in "Operation High Jump" where he received The Order of the Penguin from Admiral Byrd while aboard the aircraft carrier USS Philippine Seas. Ed was a member of American Legion Post 1250 Florida, member of Wawayanda Flying Club, New Hampton, past committee member for Boy Scout Troop 44 Florida as well as a past Cub Master. Ed participated in an Honor Flight to Washington, DC where he visited the WWII Memorial. "Pop had a passion for the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling & camping on Grindstone Island in the Thousand Islands." Survivors include: His wife of 63 years Judy at home, daughter Joyce Schloicka and her husband Robert of Florida; son Robert Putkowski and his wife Stefanie of Ridgefield, Ct.; grandchildren Robert Schloicka and his wife Deirdre, Joy Gorish and her husband Lane, and Jacob Putkowski; great grandchildren Kaelyn, Madelyn, Kara, & Reiley, Schloicka, and Lane and Briar Gorish; brother Leonard Putkowski and wife Dixie, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Ronald Putkowski, sisters Anna Sadecki & Josephine Wood, brothers Casimir, Walter & Matthew Putkowski. Visitation will be held on Sunday October 18, 2015 from 4-8 PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home 22 Glenmere Ave. Florida, NY 10921. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Monday October 19, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Josephs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Florida Fire Dept.
