Obituary of Martha Grusz Rutkowski

Martha Grusz Rutkowski of Westtown, NY, entered into rest on Friday, February 5th at home, the same home that she lived in for the past 94 years. She was 100. The daughter of the late Philip Grusz & Stephanie Gogolewski Grusz, she was born on October 7, 1915 in Wantage, NJ. Martha was a dairy farmer most of her life before she sold the farm and worked as a nurses aide for the Orange County Home & Infirmary. She was currently the oldest member of St. Stanislaus Church, Pine Island and a member of the Unionville and Slate Hill Pacers Senior Citizen Clubs. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Linda Podwirny and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Rutkowski and son Philip S. Podwirny. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 10th from 4-7PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 Co Rt# 1, Pine Island, NY 10969. A funeral mass will be held 11:00AM February 11th at St. Stanislaus Church, Pine Island, NY. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Pine Island, NY.
