Obituary of John A. Stanish

John A. Stanish of Mt. Hope, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 20, 2017. He was 61. The son of the late John Stanish & Carmela DeLemmo Stanish, he was born April 27, 1955 in Lancaster, California. He grew up in the Hamlet of Wallkill, NY. John married Marie Jados Stanish on June 9, 1984. She was the love of his life and he was truly devoted to her. John held a Master of Social Work Degree from the State University of Albany and retired from Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center where he worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Until his health declined, John was an avid gardener. For a number of years, John had a DJ Business known to many as Sound Sensation. Both he and Marie cherished their pets, especially the numerous dogs and cats they had while they were married. Survivors include his wife Marie Stanish at home; brother, Gary Stanish of Newnan, Ga; Mother-in-law, Joan Jados of Pine Island; brothers & sisters in law, Joseph Jados Sr. (Joan) of Warwick; and Louis Jados Jr. (JoAnn) of Pine Island; and several nieces and nephews & cousins; Godchildren, Kaitlin & Zachary Hyde. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Louis Jados Sr. and nephew Joseph Jados Jr.; paternal aunt, Corinne Koonz-Pushman. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23rd from 2-5 PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route#1, Pine Island, NY 10969. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Monday, April 24th at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Pine Island, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mid-Hudson Animal Aid, 54 Simmons Lane, Beacon, NY 12508 or to the Humane Society of your choice.
