Obituary of Helen Barbara Regelski

Helen Barbara Regelski, a prominent and longtime resident of Middletown, NY, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. She would have been 94 years old on October 22. She was married in 1944 to George I. Regelski, her childhood sweetheart, for 52 years until his death in 1996. The daughter of Helen Grzegorzewska and Joseph Brudzynski, she was born in Florida, NY, October 22, 1923. She enjoyed a long, interesting and productive life surrounded by many friends young and older. Although her life's work was as the manager of her husband, George I. Regelski's CPA firm, she enjoyed dabbling in real estate, teaching and tutoring. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in Europe, Florida and Cape Cod, among other places around the US, too. Always having a thirst for knowledge, Barbara read and collected many books and was active on her computer until recently. She embraced new information and Skyped her daughter every evening for 20 years. She graduated from SS Seward Institute High School in Florida, NY, Orange County Community College, Middletown, NY and S.U.N.Y. New Paltz with a BA in Education. Barbara was very proud of her Polish heritage, spoke fluent Polish, and participated in the Polish chorus at a number of Onion Festivals. She loved to dance and sing and enjoyed ballroom dancing for many years at the Wallkill Senior Citizens Center big band Tuesdays. She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Regelski (Charles Bearfighter) RedDoor, of Arlington, VA and a number of nephews and a niece. Her two older brothers, Daniel A. Brogan, and George Brudzynski, predeceased her. Memorial visitation for both George & Barbara will be held on Saturday, October 21st from 10am-12noon at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Memorial mass will be held 12noon Saturday, October 21st at St. Joseph Church, Florida, NY 10921. Burial of both George & Barbara's ashes will be in the family plot in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY.
