Obituary of Florence Majewski

Florence Majewski, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Saturday morning, November 27, 2010 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was 66. Daughter of the late Jacob and Edith (Bonczek) Kozala, she was born in Goshen on January 17, 1944. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Richard Majewski; three children, Tammy Majewski Flannery and husband Daniel of Warwick, Tiffany Majewski Potempa and husband Mark of Warwick, Brock Majewski of Westtown, NY; 2 granddaughters, Erin Flannery and Talia Potempa. Survivors also include; two sisters, Dolores Chain of Campbell Hall, NY and Christine Hink of Goshen, NY; two brothers, Joseph Kozala and James Kozala of Goshen, NY and numerous in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Florence was a 1961 graduate of Goshen High School. She and her husband founded Allied Excavating, Inc. and also raised Morgan Horses on their farm in Warwick, NY. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Church in Warwick, NY and a volunteer at the Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry. She was a dedicated mother who enjoyed travel, skiing, racquetball, gardening, and was an avid NY Yankees fan. She had a love for the beaches of Virgin Gorda, where she enjoyed spending time with her family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 30th from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave. Florida, NY 10921. Funeral mass will be held 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at St. Stephen’s Church, Warwick, NY Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery Florida, NY In Florence’s memory, donations may be made to St. Stephen’s Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick, NY 10990, St. Stephen’s/St. Edward’s School of Warwick or the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 14 Pennsylvania Plaza, Suite 1400, New York, NY 10122.
