Obituary of Anne K. Burns

Anne K. Burns of Florida, NY entered into rest on Sunday April 17, 2011 at home surrounded by her family. She was 86. The daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Zawatski Kusek, she was born on August 8, 1924 in Goshen, NY. Anne was married to the late Richard William Burns. Anne was a Nassau College graduate and her business career was with Exxon Corporation in their New York office and in Dallas, Texas. Anne was an avid volunteer. While living in New Hyde Park she volunteered with the Nassau County Department of Assessment, New Hyde Park Civilian Patrol, and was an AARP Tax Consultant. After moving to Florida, she volunteered at the Chamber of Commerce in Goshen, continued as an AARP Tax Consultant in this area, and was on the Board of the Goshen Area Day Care and Learning Center. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, St. Joseph’s Living Rosary Society, and the Seward Senior Citizens. She is survived by her daughter Karen and her husband Thomas Fay, granddaughter Dana, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by sisters Anelia Kusek and Marian Morris and brothers Stanley and Walter. The family wishes extend their thanks to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County and to Marcia Pottinger, her extraordinary and wonderful caregiver. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 19, 2011 from 7-9 PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY 10921. Funeral Mass will be held 10 AM on Wednesday April 20, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Church, 20 Glenmere Ave. Florida, NY 10921. The Reverend Joseph Tokarczyk will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Church Restoration Fund, 14 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY 10921.
