Dorothy Mae Lempka formerly of Goshen, NY, entered into rest on Friday May 18, 2012, at Julia Ribaudo ECC in Lake Ariel, PA. Born July 7, 1934, in Goshen, she was the daughter of the late James and Hazel Smith Boyd. She was married to the late Francis "Frank" Leo Lempka Jr. When she wed dad her life changed for the better. She was a devoted wife and the proud and loving mother of nine children. Mom was a very strong and determined person. She was talented, smart and accomplished with whatever she set her mind to. She taught herself to cook, sew, embroider, crochet, knit, and even build with wood. Her family benefited from the many hand-made items given to them. Besides being a housewife, mom also worked various jobs including an insurance office, the post office, and for Orange County.Dorothy is survived by 9 children Nancy McBride and her husband Terry of Campbell Hall; Kathryn Gerstner and her husband James of Warwick; Deborah Voges and her husband Robert of Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania; Frank Lempka III of Middletown; Dorothy Corson of Hawaii; James Lempka and his partner Barbara Mills of Venice, Florida; Jacqueline McCoy and her husband Keith of Port Jervis; Theodore Lempka and his wife Elizabeth of Gilford New Hampshire; and Elizabeth Raffa and her husband Chris of Goshen;28 Grandchildren , 16 Great Grandchildren.She was predeceased by her angelic great-granddaughter Chloe Kathryn Quackenbush. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at T.S. Purta Funeral Home 22 Glenmere Ave. Florida, NY 10921.A funeral mass will be held 10 AM on Wednesday May 23, 2012 at St. Josephs Church 20 Glenmere Ave. Florida, NY.Burial will be in St. Josephs Cemetery, Florida, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, D.C. 20090-6011 or to the charity of one's choice.The family would like to thank the staff and administration of Julia Ribaudo ECC for their kindness and the excellent care they gave our mom.
