Obituary of Catharina Jansen

Catharina (Tini) TerMetz Jansen passed away on June 9, 2012 at the Valley View Center for Nursing Care & Rehab in Goshen NY. She was 96.
Born in Haarlem, Holland on August 14 1915 to Simon and Catharina TerMetz; Tini was the youngest of eight children; all who predeceased her. She was married to Jacobus (Jack) Jansen for 58 years, who passed away in 1999. In 1956, Tini and Jack, and their three children, emigrated to the United States, where they eventually settled in Clifton NJ.
Tini was a homemaker, who kept busy running her household, while enjoying her hobbies: Sewing and Needlepoint. When Jack retired, they travelled extensively, and took many trips through America, Canada, South America and Europe.
She is survived by her son, Jan and wife, Elizabeth of Florida NY; her daughter, Ineke Pierpoint and husband, George III of White Plains NY. She was predeceased by her youngest son, Henk, in 1998.
Survivors also include eight grandsons: Scott Jansen and companion, Patti Price of Chester NY; Jay Jansen and wife, Beth of Mattituck N Y; Ben Jansen and wife, Stacy of New Hampton NY. Also, George Pierpoint IV and wife, Jen of Oceanview NJ; Rob Pierpoint and wife, Sue of Tully NY; David Jansen of Garfield N J; Joe and Timothy Jansen of Deland Fl. Nine great grandchildren: Shane, Evan, Emily and Lily Jansen; Travis, Logan, Ryan, Garrett and Megan Pierpoint.
Tini also leaves her sister-in-law, Amelia (Willy) Metz, her children: Carina DeLorenzo, Lia Hahofer, Marcus Metz, and their families. Also, nieces Femi Roecker, Liz Jankowski; nephews Bert Willemse, Louis Jansen and their families. Along with many nieces and nephews in Holland.
Family statement reads: "Big Oma" was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She especially loved the family gatherings on Holidays and birthdays. We are happy that she was able to enjoy such a long life. She will be missed by us all.
Tini's family would like to thank the staff of Valley View Nursing Home, who took great care of her for the last six years.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday June 16th from 9:30 to 11 am at T S Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave, Florida NY followed by an 11:00 AM Mass of Resurrection at St Joseph's Church, Florida.
