Obituary of Elizabeth Sanza

Elizabeth Anne "Liz" Sanza of Florida, NY, entered into rest on September 17, 2012. She was 26. The daughter of Alphonse Sanza & Cheryl Smith Sanza, she was born on March 8, 1986 in Pompton Plains, NJ. Liz loved life and never thought of herself as being disabled. She became an independent young lady who used her strong abilities to enjoy life to the fullest and to advocate for others through her work with the Consumer, Family and Youth Advisory Committee of Family Empowerment and Occupations, Inc. She enjoyed writing plays, planning parties, and celebrating every holiday with great enthusiasm. Liz loved music, especially Mariah Carey and Glee. She adored being around children, especially babies, and loved her pets. She was a member of St. Stephen's Church, Warwick, NY where she was a member of the teen choir. The family will be forever grateful to her caregivers who blessed Liz throughout her life with their kindness, diligent care, and loving support. Survivors include her loving parents of Florida, NY; brother, John Sanza & his wife Jennifer of Reidsville, NC; Maternal grandparents, Yma & Ypa; aunts, Silvia Sanza of New York City, and Sue Smith of Linden, NJ; uncles, Harold Smith of Fredon, NJ, and William Smith of Reeders, PA, as well as several cousins. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. A funeral mass will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21 at St. Stephen's Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick, NY 10990. Interment will be at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Warwick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joni and Friends Eastern PA, 340 Highlands Drive, Suite 200, Mountville, PA 17554.
