Obituary of Helen Kuszek

Helen Kuszek of Florida, NY a retired worker at Leco Electric Co. in Florida, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. She was 101. The daughter of the late Michael & Mary Koboleski Kujawski, she was born on July 9, 1913 in Warwick, NY. She was the last survivor of twelve children born into the Kujawski family. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and its Living Rosary Society, Florida, NY. "Mom enjoyed canning, baking and gardening for as long as she was able to. She especially loved when friends and family stopped by to enjoy all of her homemade goodies." She was the widow of John F. Kuszek who predeceased her on April 1, 1976. Helen is survived by her three children: Patricia Pierce and her husband Frank of Florida, NY; Barbara Coleman and her husband Daniel of Florida, NY and John Kuszek and his fiancé Linda Robinson of Warwick, NY; seven grandchildren: William Bloom III and his wife Melissa, Susan English, Bryan Pierce, Kimberly Threewitt and her husband Doug, Tracy O'Brien and her husband Kevin, Katherine Caswell and her husband Scott, John Michael Kuszek II and his wife Alexis. Also, eight great grandchildren: Billy & Andrew Bloom, Jamison and Kendal Threewitt, Molly and McKenzie English, and McKenna and Zavin O'Brien. Helen is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Helen was predeceased by eight brothers and three sisters; Joseph, Frank, Andrew, John, Edward, Stanley, Lewis & Walter Kujawski, Rose Kolman, Catherine Shanley & Eugenia Andryshak. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Friday, October 17th at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Funeral services will be held 10AM Saturday, October 18th at St. Joseph Church, Florida, NY. The Reverend Bernard P. Heter will officiate. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helen's name to Backpack Snack Attack Program, C/O Warwick Reformed Church, 16 Maple Avenue, Warwick, NY 10990. The family would like to thank the staff at the Valley View, especially to nursing supervisor, Beth Purta and to her floor nurse, Kim Lacoste for the extra special care they gave to mom. Also a special "thank you" to Helen's roommate Regina for all her help given to mom.
