Obituary of Peter R. Dross Jr.
Peter R. Dross Jr. of Florida, NY, a retired programmer analyst/security receiver for Big V Supermarkets, Florida, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at home. He was 73.
The son of the late Peter R. Dross Sr. & Adrianna Van Der Stad Dross, he was born June 10, 1944 in Paterson, NJ.
He served as a Sergeant in the US Airforce during the Vietnam War. He was a former member of the Hoffman Lodge #412 Free & Accepted Masons, Middletown, Florida Seward Seniors, past commander of the Florida American Legion Post 1250 and past member, former treasurer of the Florida Fire Department.
Pete enjoyed his family picnics, horseshoes, vacationing at Lake George & North Carolina, time with his grandkids, softball, bowling, playing cards and a little scotch on the side.
Special thanks to Dr. Leslie Stead and staff at Orange Medical Center, Pete’s “Angels” and Hospice staff, “loved my special trip”.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Diane Wood Dross; son, Richard Dross; son, David Dross & wife Kristen; 3 grandchildren, Leanne, Savannah & Derek; mother-in-law, Leonore Wood; brothers & sisters-in-law, Alan & Diane Wood; Stephen & Deb Wood; Jeffrey & Wanda Wood; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 6th from 4-8PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY 10921. Legion services will be held 7PM.
Funeral service will be held 10 AM on Saturday, April 7th at the funeral home.
There will be a private cremation and burial in the Florida Cemetery at a later date.
