Adam Weslowski, 102 of Warwick, NY, a retired carpenter and drywall contractor died peacefully at St. Anthony Community Hospital, Warwick, after a short illness on Thursday, March 26, 2015. Born on December 24, 1912 in Warwick, NY to John P. & Mary Zagorski Wesolowski, he graduated from S.S. Seward Institute in 1932. In 1946 he married the love of his life, Rose Kerstanski. They spent many happy years dancing the polka. She passed away in 2005. While in high school, Adam was scouted by the Brooklyn Dodgers as a knuckleball pitcher but declined the offer. He was a member of the CYO and Holy Name Society. He joined the Florida Fireman's marching band and served a term as financial secretary and treasurer. He worked in construction and built the first outdoor movie theater in Warwick and various other buildings around town. He started Warwick Drywall Finishing Co. and worked all over Orange and adjoining counties. He retired in 1988. In 1984, he and wife Rose joined the Seward Senior Citizens Club. Adam was instrumental in obtaining a grant for building a senior center in Florida and worked with other seniors to build it, completing in 1986. In 1988, Adam was elected President of the Seward Seniors, serving for 20 years. In 2008, he was selected "Senior Citizen of the Year" of Orange County. In 2011, he was inducted into the S.S. Seward Institute Athletic Hall of Fame and threw the first pitch out at the annual Seward Alumni baseball game in 2014 at 101. As the oldest parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church in Pine Island in 2012 he met Cardinal Dolan at the church's 100th year anniversary ceremony. At age 100, he was given a huge birthday party by family and also one by the senior citizens club. He was saluted on Willard Scott's Today Show segment. He received a letter from President Obama, various town and county officials, the Yankees, the Mets, the Dodgers and Cardinal Dolan. Adam still attended the Senior Club's dinners and meetings when he could and enjoyed family, friends, baseball, Polish music, playing the lottery and his Chihuahua's. He was a kind and considerate person with a positive attitude. He will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. He leaves behind his son, Adam & wife Julia; daughter, Renee & husband Michael; grandchildren, Milissa & Paul, Michael & Nikki, Christopher & Aimee, Jessie & Liz; great grandchildren, Brett, Christopher, Kaitlin, Kasey, Zachary, Angelina, Justin and Logan to come; and Chihuahuas, Rosie & BamBam; brothers, Vincent & Casimir and sisters, Mary & Cecelia and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Rose; brothers, John, Stanley, Leon & Lewis and sister, Martha. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29th from 2-4& 7-9PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Funeral mass will be held 11AM Monday, March 30th at St. Joseph Church, Florida, NY. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY. The family would like to thank all of those at St. Anthony Hospital, Orange & Sullivan County Hospice and all that gave him care at home.
