Obituary of Christopher Cockburn
Christopher Cockburn of Goshen, NY, a retired Sergeant with the Town of Warwick Police Department and currently a Police Officer for the Village of Florida, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. He was 59.
The son of the late William & Roberta Ryan Cockburn, he was born on December 24, 1961 in the Bronx, NY.
Chris was the first D.A.R.E. Officer in Warwick. He was an avid skier and golfer. He was a ski instructor for Tuxedo Ridge and a Master Police Instructor at the Rockland Police Academy. He had a great sense of humor. Dad was a true family man, his life revolved around his family.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Stephanie Lupinski-Cockburn; daughter, Kayleigh Cockburn & husband John Platé; son, Andrew Cockburn & fiancé Kourtney McGinnis; daughter Heather Cockburn; sister, Jeanne Garrison; brother, Kevin Reilly; sister, Rose O’Neill (Robert); Father-in-law & Mother-in-law, Stanley & Linda Lupinski; brother-in-law, Stanley Lupinski (Christine); sister-in-law, Lorraine Lupinski; uncle, George Cockburn (Maureen); aunt, Jeanne Olsen; aunt, Lorraine Holt; cousins, Dawn Olsen, Trisha Kasunic, Michelle Olsen, Donald Olsen, Andrea Vezos, Kristyn Weeks, & Eric Coburn; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins; along with beloved pets, Bella and Checkers (dogs) and Sammy (cat).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19th from 2-6PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921.
A funeral service will be held 10AM Monday, September 20th at St. Joseph Church, 20 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921.
Burial will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY.
Due to COVID 19, the family is requesting that all in attendance wear masks while indoors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
