Obituary of Bernadette "Bernie" Bigert

Bernadette “Babci Bernie” Bigert of Pine Island, NY, entered into rest on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at home.  She was 84.

The daughter of the late Sylvester Gorczynski and Franciszka Zemka Gorczynski, she was born in Poland.

Survivors include her daughters, Theresa Bernhardsen (David); Denise Madura (Chris);  grandson, Jason Bernhardsen (Andrea); granddaughter, Shana O’Gara (Patrick); great grandchildren, Kennedy and Connor; granddaughter, Brooke Whelan (Brendan); 2 brothers, John and Edward Gorczynski; sister, Teresa Piccirilli; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her “Old Man”, Raymond Bigert; 6 brothers, Leonard, Chester, Joseph, Kazimierz, Ludwik and Konstanty Gorczynski; and sister, Ursula Buda.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 8^th from 4-7pm at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921.

Funeral mass will be held 10AM Thursday, June 9^th at St. Joseph Church, Florida, NY.

As per her wishes a private cremation will follow the services.

The family requests no flowers and memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
